Precision Low Pressure Laboratory Heat Sealer – for accurate and repeatable determination of heat seal threshold in low pressure heat seal materials often used in tobacco and confectionery industries.
Precise control of heat sealing process variables (temperature, pressure, and dwell time), enables an optimal balance of material specification, packaging machine speed and seal integrity. Accuracy and repeatability in laboratory low pressure heat seal testing is vital, and the HL-1 provides the technology and reliability to deliver time after time. An intelligent controller and touch screen user interface stores multiple settings for later recall, and controls settings to produce high quality seals.

The HL-1 was developed to precisely control the parameters essential in determining the
heat seal threshold of low pressure heat sealing material for applications where low
pressure sealing is required, often associated with the product being packaged such as
the Tobacco or chocolate confectionery Industries.
Especially suited for flexible packaging materials used in the Tobacco or Confectionery
industry, the HL-1 features accurate control of temperature, pressure and dwell time of a
standard surface area sealing jaw.

Temperature Control: 0 – 250ºC (0 – 482ºF) 0.1ºC resolution +/- 0.5% +/- 1 digit accuracy.
Operating temperature accuracy +/- 2ºC. Resistance Type ‘PT100’ sensing.
Pressure: 0 – 1.0psi (0 – 0.068 bar, 0 – 6.89 Kpa) as a result of floating block 1.00lb
(453.6g). In weight accuracy +/- 0.01g with a seal area of 25.4mm x 25.4mm accuracy +/-
0.01mm. Supply via factory compressed air line or nitrogen or compressed air
bottles min 4 bar (58 psi) max. 6 bar(87 psi). Pressure medium must be clean and dry.
Dwell Time: 0.01 – 9.99 sec. 0.01 sec resolution real time base via quartz crystal
+/- 0.01% of range. Pre-signal output adjustable between 1ms-100ms +/- 0.1ms
ensures total contact time is equal to reset time.
Delay Time: 0.1 – 99.9 sec. 0.1 sec resolution real time base via quartz crystal, +/- 0.1% of
range, assists with the correct alignment of the pouch/bag/sample.
Footswitch: Connection port for footswitch operation. Optional footswitch.
Sealing Jaw: Top Jaw (unheated) floating block with silicone rubber surface 60 shore
hardness with ground flat face. Weighing 1.00lb (453.6g) with seal area 25.4mm x
25.4mm. Lower jaw heated and pneumatically controlled with ground flat face
27.0mm x 27.0mm.
Power: 240V AC 50/60 Hz (110V AC voltage available on request)
• Footswitch
• Load cell (5Kg) added display to measure the load of the top floating jaw to monitor the
accuracy of the applied pressure. Also to measure the load applied for increased
seal pressure.
• 2, 3 or 4 lb weight floating top jaw to increase the pressure on the seal.
